Vaak het gevolg van een kop-staartbotsing. Klassiek geneeskundig wordt uiteraard eerst gekeken naar aantoonbaar letsel: botbreuken, bloedingen, een hersenschudding. Enorm belangrijk en zeker de eerste prioriteit!<\/p>\n<p>Echter blijven veel pati\u00ebnten na ruime tijd nog steeds last houden. Zo ook de pati\u00ebnt uit dit verhaal: 7 jaar geleden werd hij aangereden toen hij voor een stoplicht stond te wachten. De diagnose whiplash werd gesteld. Hij kreeg een nekkraag en onderging verschillende behandelingen door een fysiotherapeut. Echter bleef de hoofdpijn en met fases had hij last van enorme nekpijn en pijn ter hoogte van zijn middenrug, ook gaf hij aan last te hebben van brandend maagzuur.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cKraken\u201d door de manueel therapeut of fysiotherapeut gaf tijdelijk verlichting. Via kennissen kwam hij bij ons in de praktijk terecht. Uit onderzoek kwam, osteopatisch gezien, een duidelijke dominoketen van klachten tevoorschijn die we regelmatig zien na een whiplash ongeval. Meneer was verbaasd te horen dat, naast zijn skelet, ook zijn tongbeen, slokdarm, maag, rechter onderbuik en rechter bekken een klap hadden doorgemaakt in dit ongeluk. Deze structuren zijn nooit lokaal behandeld na het ongeluk. In deze keten zit nu precies de kracht van een osteopaat. We kijken verder dan enkel het skelet. Er zijn zo veel meer structuren die te leiden hebben bij een whiplash, dan het skelet en de schedel!<\/p>\n<p>We zijn gestart aan het behandelen van deze keten en hadden al snel resultaat. De hoofdpijn, pijn in nek en rug en het brandend maagzuur waren in enkele behandelingen gereduceerd tot een aanvaardbaar niveau. Vervolgens werd de samenwerking met de fysiotherapeut ingezet; houdingsverbetering en het verbeteren van kracht van specifieke spiergroepen die dit herstel behouden.<br \/>\nInmiddels zijn we al weer enkele jaren verder sinds ik deze meneer voor het eerst trof in de praktijk. We spreken elkaar nog jaarlijks. Hij geeft aan een onderhoudsbehandeling erg prettig te vinden om terugval te voorkomen en de conditie van zijn lichaam te ondersteunen.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Een whiplash, we kennen de term allemaal wel.
